The Undiagnosis/ New Orleans

Interesting name for this post, I know. Some of my friends and family might know that I was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome a couple years ago. Basically it is a connective tissue malformation, hence my go-go gadget arms, that causes everything to be a little stretchier. I thankfully was told I have a mild case, therefore stretchy arteries and heart valves were not an issue. I was seeing a regular cardiologist for monitoring, but decided to switch to a Vanderbilt doctor because it is cheaper with my insurance. Well, I went to see Dr. Byrd for my yearly appointment, who happens to be a Marfan Specialist. Upon examination, he believes I have some of the muscloskeletal presentations but is thoroughly conviced I am not a Marfoid (I hated being called this, anyway). Yay! Yay! So Jake and I are super excited!!

Jake and I took a weekend trip to New Orleans. It is a very interesting city to say the least, but a very fun getaway. We experienced the local flair including the chickory coffee and beignets to crawfish ettouffe. The most interesting part were the many street performers who graced the French Quarter. Our personal favorite was the homemade Transformer outfits that actually enabled the men to transform into cars and roll around. Hilarious! Bourbon street is not what it is cracked up to be, actually it is quite NASTY! We walked it only twice and that was more than enough. The rest of the area is nice though.

In other news, tomorrow is Aug 24th which is a wonderful day. #1. First day of grad school. #2. The last book in the series Hunger Games is being shipped to me. #3. Season 3 of Lost is on DVD. I can barely contain myself. So if you need me, I will be in the cottage either reading or watching TV or maybe doing school work. Yikes!

See you soon!
